Hildbrand "Hippy" Nooitgedagt, 78, passed away On Saturday, July 16, 2016 at the Lehigh Valley Hospital Hospice Section- Cedar Crest, where he had been a patient for two weeks, with his loving family at his side. Born on June 19, 1938 in Jutland, NJ, he was the son of the late Peter and Taekje Joustra Nooitgedagt. Prior to moving to Forks Twp. in 2005, he resided in White Twp., NJ for over 50 years. He was a member of the Belvidere High School Class of 1956 and was of Presbyterian faith. He worked as a tractor-trailer driver for Hoffman-LaRoche for 30 years retiring in 1996. After his retirement, he worked for Harmony Sand & Gravel and later drove a school bus for Ainsworth Scott Bus Service. Prior to his illness, he worked at the Riverview Country Club. He was a fast pitch softball pitcher for many years and played on many local and long distant softball teams; RCA in Dover, Phillipsburg Merchants, Cheesies in Portland, HLR Company Team in Nutley, and Nazareth Cubs. Pitching a perfect game is also to his credit. His pitching skill led him to the opportunity to pitch against The King and His Court several times and also Hop and The Hustlers. His love of baseball led him to his desire to coach. Hippy coached Little League Baseball in White Twp. for many years, as well as, the All-Star Teams. He volunteered as an assistant coach for the Belvidere High School Girls Softball Team. He threw many hours of batting practice and shared his knowledge and gift of skill of the windmill pitch. He was instrumental in turning a White Township lot on Rt. 46 into a Little League Baseball Field making sure the kids had a place to play. Hippy was also the Charter President of the Belvidere Wildcat Booster Club. His love of sports was evident in the patience and love he had for children, especially his children and grandchildren. When he was not watching his grandchildren participate in their activities and sporting events, he could be found on many a golf course as he was an avid golfer. He was an avid follower of the Duke Blue Devils Men Basketball Team and in football, the Dallas Cowboys. He also enjoyed traveling and cruising, the last being of the Hawaiian Islands. He was a loving husband to the former Janet Good for over 50 years, as well as a loving father and Pop-Pop. The love of his family was his greatest treasure. His involvement with being a role model to his children and grandchildren is his legacy. In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his daughter, Nanci Hummer of Nazareth, PA; son, Peter and his wife Heather of White Twp.; six grandchildren, Autumn Marie Hummer and her fiancée Michael Ruiz of Payson, AZ, Colton Paul, Griffin Matlock and Gavin Anthony Hummer all of Nazareth, PA, Kasadi Rae and Levi Nirene Nooitgedagt of White Twp., NJ; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Paul and Janis Good; a nephew, Scott Good of White Twp.; a niece, Trish Good of Pen Argyl, PA.
