Howard Ferris Cowell, Jr., 79, of White Township, Belvidere, NJ, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 while residing at Chelsea at Brookfield. Born on July 3, 1937 in Lopatcong Township, NJ, he was the son of the late Howard and Emma Rutt Cowell. Howard was the husband of the late Charlotte Rymon Cowell who passed away in 2012. His love for Charlotte was evident to all those who knew him and he missed her immensely. He was a graduate of Blairstown High School, Class of 1956. He tested milk for Warren County dairy farmers in his early years. He worked at Southland Chemical for many years until its closure, retiring from the Oxford DPW. He was also a bus driver part time and was a White Township code official. He enjoyed puttering around his property completing many projects over the 50 years that he lived there. He had a great love for his family and many pets. Howard had been a member of the Belvidere Ambulance Corps. In addition to his parent and wife, Howard was predeceased by his sisters, Carrie Kise, Irma Ackerman and Sarah Matlock; a brother, Charles; grandson, Michael Cowell; daughter-in-law, Polly Cowell. Surviving are his children, Tracey Hess and husband Jeff, Brenda O'Neill and husband Michael, Christina Fuller, Howard James Cowell, Jennifer Castillo and husband Enrique, Jessica Hamerschlag and husband Chris; seventeen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. Services will be private.
