Obituary of William S. Kerrigan

William Stanley Kerrigan, 85, of the Brookfield section of White Township, Belvidere, NJ passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at his home with his loving family at his side.

Born in Newark, NJ on June 16, 1939, he was the son of the late Joseph and Marian (Stafanowich) Kerrigan. He was raised in Hillside, NJ and was a graduate of Hillside High School. 

Bill served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War as a Military Policeman.

After his military service, Bill began his career with the Hillside Police Department from 1966 to 1970. He then transitioned to the Hillside Fire Department, where he served with honor and distinction from 1970 until his retirement in 1996 as Fire Captain. Over three decades Bill gave his all to protect and serve the residents of Hillside, earning the respect and admiration of all who worked alongside him.

Bill was a member of Knights of Columbus St. Jude Council 12430, Blairstown, NJ, Firemen’s Benevolent Association, and the NJ State Firemen’s Association.

He had enjoyed his many hobbies; horseback riding, fishing, bicycle riding, hiking, cross country skiing, bowling, cooking and baking.

William was a volunteer at Newton Memorial Hospital, Newton, NJ, Meals on Wheels, Blairstown, and Haven of Hope for Kids, Hope, NJ.

Surviving are his beloved wife, Beverly Ann (Guarriello) Kerrigan; two daughters, Deb Kerrigan of Linden, NJ, and Lori Kerrigan of East Stroudsburg, PA.

In celebrating William’s life, a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM, Friday, May 30, 2025 at St. Patrick R.C. Church, Belvidere, NJ. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery with Military Honors.
