Obituary of Constance A. DiMizio

Please share a memory of Constance to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Constance “Connie” Ann DiMizio (née Gildea), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and the heart of our family, entered eternal rest on June 25, 2025, at the age of 83. She passed peacefully in Branchburg, New Jersey, held in the love of her daughter Donna and Donna’s longtime companion Michael Stroppa.

Born on September 6, 1941, in Newark, NJ, Connie’s life was a living example of grace, strength, unwavering love, and unshakable faith. She is now joyfully reunited in Heaven with her beloved husband of nearly 65 years, Gerardo “Jerry” DiMizio, whom she missed dearly since his passing three years ago. Together again, their laughter echoes in eternity.

To be loved by Connie was to feel truly known, deeply cared for, and always prayed over. She was a steadfast caregiver, a comforting presence, and a faithful friend. She poured her heart into her family—she was a devoted mother to Debra Skelton and her husband Kevin, Donna Pohl and her companion Michael Stroppa, a cherished grandmother to Jerry Skelton and his wife Tiffany, Joey Pohl and his wife Danielle, Christine Lombardi and her husband Patrick, and Kevin Skelton and his wife Amy, and a great-grandmother to Alyssa and Anthony Skelton, Emma Pohl, and Myles Lombardi. Every life she touched was made brighter and more loving by her presence.

She lived her faith not only in words but in actions—through her kindness, her generosity, and her unwavering commitment to family. Holidays at Connie’s home were more than meals; they were sacred gatherings. She cooked with love, hosted with joy, and made sure no one ever left hungry—in body or in spirit.

Her days were filled with the small pleasures that made her heart happy: a lively game of bingo with friends, a Hallmark movie to lift her spirits, or a playful trip to the casino with a glint in her eye. But above all, her favorite place was beside her husband and among her family, laughing, loving, and giving more than she ever took.

As we gather to celebrate her life, we hold tight to the promise of Scripture: "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." — 2 Timothy 4:7

Connie’s race is complete, her faith fulfilled, and her legacy eternal. She leaves behind generations of love, stories that will be told for decades, and traditions we will carry forward with gratitude and grace.

Though our hearts ache with her absence, we rejoice in knowing she is home—wrapped in God’s arms, reunited with her beloved Jerry, and watching over us with the same love she always gave so freely.
