Obituary of Grace M. Kaiser

Please share a memory of Grace to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with mixed emotions that we announce the passing of Grace M. Kaiser, 95, formerly of Oxford and Randolph, NJ, on September 16, 2025.

Grace was born in Morristown, NJ on September 15, 1930, and was an only child of Louis Yuhas and Caroline Kollar.

She was raised in Bernardsville, NJ, attended St. Elizabeth School and Bernards High School, class of 1947.  After graduation Grace was off to New York City to attend the Barbizon School of Modeling on Fifth Avenue, traveling by train each day. This is where she gained her knowledge about fashion and how to choose the most flattering and complementary styles suited to her coloring and petite stature.  She spent several seasons as a hand and coat model and learning to navigate NYC as she went to different modeling jobs.

After her engagement to George L. Kaiser, whom she met at BHS, Grace left modeling and went on to office work while George was serving in the Navy in the Mediterranean.

They married in January 1953 after George's discharge and moved to Dover, NJ.  They had one daughter, Linda-Sue and then moved to Randolph where George started his own plumbing business.  Grace had a very active life helping out in the business, driving Linda back and forth to school in Morris Plains, a co-leader in Girl Scouts for several years, taking care of her parents, and somehow finding time to lunch with friends.

Grace used her crafting skills to add her personal touches to decorate each of the holidays. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, dancing and traveling around the country in their “Scotty” trailer. Grace, already a very good cook, began watching Julia Child and hosting parties for family, friends and neighbors with culinary delights.

Grace, and George's happiest times were spent vacationing at their home on Cape May Point, NJ.

Grace was a loving daughter, wife, mother, Nanny, great Nano and friend to all those who knew her. She was predeceased by her parents and devoted husband George, with whom she shared 61 years of marriage.  She will be greatly missed by her daughter, Linda-Sue and son-in-law Rick Peterson, granddaughter Lisa Marie Peterson, and great-grandson Joey, Also her extended family of cousins, nieces and nephews.  We would also like to thank current and former staff members of the Villas and Brakeley Park Care Center for treating Grace and us as family for the 12 years she was a resident.
