Interment will follow at Cedar Ridge Cemetery, Blairstown, NJ.
Known as Bernie by her friends and family, she was born on May 6, 1932, in Jersey City to Charles McCue and Violet McCue (née Cartwright). She was the devoted wife of Charles R. Troop for sixty-five years before his passing and loving mother of her late son, Michael C. Troop, and her daughter, Patricia A. Romano.
Bernie was a Girl Scout leader and a member of the Rosary Society of St. Mary’s Church in Dumont, NJ. She retired from her position as a Certified Insurance Counselor and Vice President of the Consulting Division of Clarence Lofberg, Inc. in 1988. She and her husband Charlie resided in Dumont for 34 years before relocating to Blairstown for the next 20 years and where she was a member of the Blair Woman’s Club. They then moved to Brookfield Community, where she resided for 18 years.
Bernie was a painter, crafter, knitter, and rug hooker, eager to share her artistic talents with her granddaughters. The girls spent summers during their youth crafting and painting together at her house. A gourmet and talented cook, she enjoyed hosting family dinners and dining out. Later in life, her great-grandchildren brought her immeasurable joy.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia A. Romano; three grandchildren, Jennifer L. Guinivan, Emily R. Romano, Melissa L. Troop; two great-grandchildren, Kayla G. Guinivan, Dylan M. Guinivan; her daughter-in-law, Donna M. Troop; and son-in-law, Robert J. Romano, Jr., all of whom loved and admired her dearly.
Bernie will be sorely missed by her family and the friends she made during her long life.
