Obituary of Luis A. Rivera

Luis A. Rivera, 86, of White Township, Belvidere, NJ, passed away on December 31, 2025, after battling congestive heart failure at the Lehigh Valley Hospital- Muhlenberg, Bethlehem, PA.

Born on February 26, 1939, in Jayuya, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Angel Rivera and Maria Huertas Rivera. He came to the United States in 1958 and began his career as a chef.

Luis became a chef at several prominent restaurants; Somerville Inn, Red Bull, Fiddlers Inn, Buckey’s, Watchung View Inn and lastly, Bonnie Brae School for Boys.

He was married to his late wife of 52 years, Gloria E. Rivera, with whom they had five children: Luisa Rivera, late Luis A. Rivera Jr., Sandra Rivera, Carmen McGlynn, and Edwin Rivera. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was loved by all very much and will be sadly missed. He will be forever in our hearts.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 24, 2026, at St. Patrick R.C. Church, 327 Greenwich Street, Belvidere, NJ. Burial will be private in the Allen Union Cemetery, Northampton, PA.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Luis’ name to the American Heart Association.
