Obituary of Marie Petre
With love and gratitude, we share the passing of Marie (Grochow) Petre, whose warmth and vibrant spirit touched those who knew her.
Marie was born in Buffalo, New York, and later made her home in Belvidere, New Jersey, where she lived for more than forty years. She loved small-town life, where her natural gift for conversation made a positive impact on others. Many in the community knew her during her years at the Corner Deli, where she was a welcoming presence to all patrons. She also worked at Plaza Family Care and concluded her career with the Warren County Board of Elections.
To Marie, nothing mattered more than family. She adored her two granddaughters, Samantha and Rose, whose lives were brightened by her love, laughter, and playful spirit. She was a proud and loving mother to her sons, Tim and Andy, and her daughter-in-law, Michelle. She shared a beautiful marriage of 49 years with her husband, Tim who was the love of her life and constant companion. Her love extended deeply to her nieces, nephews, and their children, as well as to the many dear friends she considered family.
Marie had a beautiful way of making people feel welcomed and loved. Whether hosting holidays filled with laughter, spending afternoons shopping with friends, collecting jewelry, or playing cards with her granddaughters, she found joy in life’s simple moments. We are forever grateful for the time we shared, for the memories she gave us, and for the enduring love that will remain with us always.
She was preceded in death by her precious son Andy; her sister and best friend, Janet; her beloved brother, Bobby; and her parents.
