Obituary of Steven A. Fastiggi

Steven Fastiggi, 89, of Oxford, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at his home on June 6, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born in Cedar Grove, New Jersey on May 31, 1937, Steven was the beloved son of the late Angelo Fastiggi and Vincenza Papaleo. Raised with a strong foundation of family values and dedication, he went on to build a life defined by hard work, integrity, and a strong work ethic.

Steven was a proud, lifelong member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 825, dedicating 44 exceptional years to his craft. He was a true master of heavy machinery and everything he set his mind to. As he would reminisce back on his career, he would always say, “I was a dirt man, did cherry pickers, and ran all the equipment, except the cranes. Every day was fun.” 

Beyond his career, Steven’s greatest pride was his family. He was a steady, strong anchor for those he loved. In his later years, he was blessed to be cared for at home by his daughter, Robyn Lynch, and her family, whose care had brought him more time and memories with those he loved. 

As a father, grandfather and friend, Steven was filled with wisdom, life lessons, and stories. His legacy of strength, resilience, perseverance, and love for his family lives on through his daughter Robyn and David Lynch and their four children: Maggie, Hayley, Oliver, and Declan Lynch; and through his stepdaughter Kim and her husband Arif and their five children: Ahmet, Emine, Hanife, Ebubekir, and Fatma Tas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Angelo and Vincenza as well as his seven siblings and he was the last of eight. Steven will be deeply missed but forever remembered by his daughters, his grandchildren, his extended family, friends, and his union brothers.

A Christian Wake Service to celebrate Steven’s life and honor his legacy will be held 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at MacFadden Funeral Home, Belvidere, NJ.
