Obituary of Marilyn G. Zwarych
Marilyn (Gano) Zwarych of Belvidere, NJ passed away on Monday, August 10, 2026.
Born on March 29, 1930, in Somerville, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Nina Gano.
Marilyn received her BA from Douglass College when it was NJC, MSW Rutgers School of Social Work. She worked many years at Edna Mahan Correctional Facility when it was a N.J. Reformatory for Women; School Social worker for Belvidere and surrounding area from 1959 to 1973.
After retirement she did not slow down. She worked part time for many Associations: Medical Social Worker for Public Health Nursing Agency (Warren County), Case Worker for State Respite Program, Visiting Home Maker Service, Mental Health Board, Advisory Board NORWESCAP, School Alcohol Program, Medical Advisory Board Public Health Nursing Agency, Juvenile Conference Committee, Child Placement Review Board, Reach to Recovery Volunteer, CEED Program Coalition member, member of the original Founding Committee of Big Brothers/Big Sisters.
Marilyn was a faithful member of the United Presbyterian Church of Belvidere, NJ.
She was predeceased in death by her parents and her husband Steven in 2017.
Surviving are her stepson Terrance Zwarych and his wife Doris of Blairstown, NJ: stepdaughter Cherilyn Frei of Seattle, WA; step grandsons Christopher Zwarych and his wife Susanna of Blairstown, and Cody Zwarych and his wife Amy of Netcong, NJ; step great-grandson Carter Alexander Zwarych and step great-granddaughter Myka Zwarych; Several nephews, nieces and friends who were very special to her.
Friends may call from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at MacFadden Funeral Home, 325 Harwick Street, Belvidere, NJ. Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, August 20, 2026, at MacFadden Funeral home. Interment will follow in the Pequest Union Cemetery, Great Meadows, NJ.
