Obituary of Anthony Palumbo

Anthony Rocco Palumbo, 94, passed away on August 11, 2026.

Born on June 5, 1932, in Newark, New Jersey, Anthony was the son of Gino and Madelyn Palumbo. He proudly served his country during the Korean War.

Anthony worked for many years at Otis Elevator in Harrison, where he also served as a shop steward. He later worked for Gavin and Graham before purchasing the company with his business partners. He remained with the company until retiring in 2002.

He was an active member of the Holy Name Society at St. Anthony’s Church in East Newark and gave his time to his community as a Little League coach in Harrison.

In 1973, Anthony and his family moved to Colonia, where they became members of St. John Vianney Parish. Following his retirement in 2002, he and Rose moved to Belvidere, New Jersey, and became members of St. Patrick and St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.

Anthony was married for 63 years to his beloved wife, Rose (Macedonio) Palumbo, who predeceased him. He devoted many years to caring for Rose during her illness, a reflection of the love and commitment they shared throughout their life together.

He was also predeceased by his parents and his siblings, Mary, Millie, Joseph, Thomas, Nicholas and Alphonse.

Anthony is survived by his son, Anthony J. Palumbo; his daughter-in-law, Dory Palumbo; and his beloved grand-dogs, Moose and Callie.

Anthony will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his sense of humor and his love of telling a good story. His stories often became a little better with each telling, as did his role in them. He enjoyed being around people, being part of the conversation and knowing that he was still needed.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM, Monday, August 17, 2026 at St. Patrick R.C. Church, Belvidere, NJ. Burial will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, Belvidere, NJ. Friends may call from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM at MacFadden Funeral Home, Belvidere, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Tony to St. Patrick R.C. Church or Tunnel to Towers.
