Obituary of Edward H. Basel

Edward H. Basel, of the Brookfield section of White Township, Belvidere, NJ,
formerly of Carteret, NJ, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 8, 2023.

He was the husband of the late Jean (Johnson) Basel. They happily shared 63
years of marriage.

Ed worked as an electrical sign hanger in New York City for more than 50 years.
One of his fondest memories was dropping the New Years Eve ball in Times
Square for 21 years.

For many years, Ed was an active member of the Knights of Columbus. He took
pride in representing the state of New Jersey as its Grand Knight. Ed enjoyed
being involved in the Brookfield community.

Of all his accomplishments, Ed loved his family the most. He is survived by his four
children, Paddy Canovas and her husband Diego, Kathy Perrine and her husband
Ed, Terry Grzankowski and her husband Ed, and Tommy Basel and his wife Jillian;
eight grandchildren, Jamie, Sarah, Brandon, Candice, Aubrey, Jackie, Breann, and
Randy; eight great-grandchildren; and his caregiver, Donna Lukiyanets.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 AM, Wednesday June 14, 2023 at
St. Patrick R.C. Church, 327 Greenwich Street, Belvidere, NJ. Friends are invited to
call from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at MacFadden Funeral Home,
325 Hardwick Street, Belvidere, NJ.
