Obituary of Lyndsey Noelle Shepherd

Lyndsey Noelle Shepherd, 27, of Flemington, passed away on Thursday, October 25, 2012, at the Hunterdon Medical Center. She was with her loved ones as she lost her courageous and uncomplaining battle with cancer. She was born on December 23, 1984, the daughter of Stephen and Lyn Shepherd, and married Islam M. Ahmed in March 2012. After graduating Hunterdon Central in 2003, she attended Cardiff University in Wales where she received a BA Joint Honours in European Languages (German and Spanish) in 2007. She later received a Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults from the British Council in 2009. She was an English Studies instructor at the Future University in Egypt, and was in Cairo during the Egyptian Revolution. Feature articles were written about her and Islam during this historic event that appeared in the Hunterdon County Democrat and Cosmopolitan magazine. She previously worked for Horvath & Glacin in Pennington. As a freelance writer and food critic, Lyndsey maintained several blogs and her own website. She loved reading, cooking, traveling and was an animal activist. She rescued many strays and always had a ready smile. She is survived by her husband, Eslam M. Ahmed; parents, Stephen and Lyn Shepherd of Flemington; her sister, Tyler Shepherd of London UK; her grandmother, Elizabeth Shepherd of Fareham UK; her aunt, Teresa Aicher and her husband Ralph of Belvidere; her aunt, Lori Verdiramo of Bridgewater; her uncle Andrew Shepherd and his wife Kate and cousins Thomas, Eleanor, Matthew, and Sam of Hampshire UK. She was predeceased by Grandparents Frederick Shepherd, UK and Angelo and Evelyn Verdiramo, Hampton, NJ. Donations may be made in memory of Lyndsey to: UN Refugee Agency- USA for UNHCR.
