Obituary of Barbara A. Allen

Barbara Anne Allen of White Township, NJ passed away peacefully December 26, 2023 at the Lopatcong Care Center in Phillipsburg, NJ.  Born January 22, 1933 on Free Union Road, White Township, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Shoemaker Sr. and Blanche (Spangenburg) Shoemaker.

Barbara was a 1950 graduate of Belvidere High School and was sure to attend all the class and alumni reunions as well as to support the Seaters at Friday night home football games. She was a supervisor for 30 years with the West Jersey Telephone Company in Belvidere, NJ. Barbara was a lifelong member of Buttzville United Methodist Church and participated in various bowling leagues at Bel-Pike Lanes for decades. She greatly enjoyed her time as a volunteer at Warren Haven Nursing Home in Oxford, NJ. Barbara was very proud to remain and reside on Free Union Road and loved her home of 57 years, cleaning, gardening, traveling with her sisters, and going to the casinos to gamble.


Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, George S. Allen Jr., two daughters, Gerri Lynn Calvin of Harmony, NJ and Sharon Fults of Houston, TX, and stepchildren, George S. Allen III of Monroe Twp, NJ and Sandy Gabauer of Langhorne, PA. She was preceded in death by her daughter Valerie Piotrowsky, sisters Mildred Ochse and Margaret Milewski, brothers Joseph Shoemaker Jr. and  Howard Shoemaker. Barbara leaves behind 5 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 4 step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Shirley J. Beene of Green Valley, AZ and many nephews and nieces.

Services will be private.

 

Arrangements are under the direction of Mac Fadden Funeral Home, Belvidere, NJ.
