Esther M. Sweigert, of Belvidere, NJ, passed away at home, surrounded by her loving family on June 29, 2024. She was 87 years old.

Esther was born August 11, 1936 in her family home in Belvidere, NJ. She was daughter to the late Edward O’Neil and sister to Edward O’Neil Jr. and John O’Neil. Esther married her late husband of 50 years, George E. Sweigert on December 11, 1954 in Belvidere, NJ. She proudly worked 35 years for the West Jersey Telephone Company.

Esther is survived by her four children, Kent Sweigert of Belvidere, NJ, Karen Finocchio of Belvidere, NJ, Donna Hess of Wind Gap, PA and Michael Sweigert of Lynne Haven, FL; thirteen grandchildren, Jason Sweigert, Robert Sweigert, Brittany Sweigert, Brielle Sweigert, Troy Sosnovik, Matthew Sosnovik, Kyle Sosnovik, Amber Gratacos, Rachel Stopfer, Adam Hess, Julie Hess, Ryan Sweigert and Emily Sweigert; sixteen beloved great-grandchildren.

Esther was known for her overwhelming generosity, great sense of humor and remarkable ability to spark a conversation with anyone she crossed paths with. As a lifelong resident, she loved the town of Belvidere and had many friends that she liked to keep in contact with. Her presence, conversation, and homemade chocolate cake will be missed by many.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, July 8, 2024 at the Belvidere Cemetery, Belvidere, NJ.
