Obituary of Harold R. Vannatta
Harold “Red” Vannatta, 90, of White Township, NJ, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 23. 2024 at St. Luke’s Warren Campus.
Born on March 30, 1934 in Harmony Township, NJ, he was the son of the late Robert and Mildred Skeldon Vannatta.
Harold was employed as a draftsman for J.C.P. & L. until his retirement.
Red served in the U.S. Navy as a photographer aboard the USS Leyte.
Harold was a member of the First Oxford Presbyterian Church at Hazen.
He was a member of Warren Lodge #13 F&AM, Easton Lodge #132, Tall Cedars Warren County Forest #14, and Belvidere American Legion Post #131.
Red was an avid wood carver, specializing in cane and duck carvings. In his earlier years, he was a small game hunter, enjoying hunting on his upstate PA property.
Harold was predeceased by his brother, Robert Vannatta (Joyce) and a nephew, Lance Vannatta, Sr.
Surviving are his wife Virginia (Ginny) Rasley Vannatta; brothers-in-law, Myron Rasley and his wife Sandy, Dale Rasley and his wife Andrea; nephews, Jason Rasley, Matthew Rasley and his wife Ashley and children, Logan and Brooke, Lance Vannatta Jr. and his wife Allie and children, Christopher and Emily.
In his memory, we celebrate a life well-lived, filled with love, laughter, and a friend to all who knew him.
A Masonic service will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, October 2, 2024 with a Memorial Funeral Service immediately following at MacFadden Funeral Home, 325 Hardwick Street, Belvidere, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Harold’s memory to First Oxford Presbyterian Church, 260 Buckhorn Drive, Belvidere, NJ 07823.
