Obituary of Barbara A. Engelmohr

Barbara A. (Dean) Engelmohr, 92, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at Parkway Pavilion in Enfield, CT.  She was the beloved wife of 40 years to the late John L. Engelmohr.  Barbara was born on August 16, 1932 to Donald L. and Gladys Linaberry Dean.  She grew up in Belvidere, NJ and graduated from Belvidere High School in 1950. 

Throughout her life, Barbara was known for her happy and caring nature.  She loved music and dancing and always had a song in her heart.  She dedicated much of her life to her family, working various part-time positions while raising her children.

 She is survived by her three loving children:  Denise Hamel, Michele Sokol and husband Robert and John Engelmohr and wife Debbie.  She was the cherished grandmother of Lauren Shaw and husband David, Joshua Sokol and partner Wendy Harper, Brian Hamel and Michele Hamel.  She also leaves behind five great-grandchildren whom she adored.  In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Donald Dean.

Her family would like to thank the amazing staff and residents at Parkway Pavilion for the wonderful care, compassion and kindness she received while there.

Barbara’s family will receive family and friends on Monday, October 28, 2024 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, Enfield.  A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 31, 2024 at 11:00 AM at MacFadden Funeral Home, 325 Hardwick St., Belvidere, NJ.  Family and friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, prior to the service.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
