Obituary of Alexander M. Krych

Alexander M. Krych, April 3, 1957-December 3, 2014, beloved husband and devoted father, passed away after a three-year struggle with prostate cancer at his home in Lakewood, NJ. He was a retired New Jersey State Trooper (1983-2008). In retirement he completed numerous medical degrees and started a second career as a licensed Acupuncturist in PA and NJ. Alex's educational accomplishments included a variety of disciplines. He received his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, College of New Jersey, Ewing, NJ, with a Minor in Psychology in 1979. He then completed the NJSP academy in March 1983 and continued his criminal justice education by completing numerous trainings and certifications in a variety of investigative courses and institutes. He also developed skills and training in a variety of Martial Arts to enhance his police expertise which laid the foundation of his second career. In 2009 he earned his Masters in Medical Qigong from the International Institute of Medical Qigong, Henan University of Traditional Chinese Medicine; in 2010 he graduated with a Master-level diploma in Acupuncture from the Eastern School of Acupuncture and Traditional Medicine in Montclair, NJ; and in July 2012 he graduated from a Post Graduate program in Naturopathic Medicine, granted a Certificate in Naturopathic Medicine from the American Naturopathic Medical Institute, Frisco, Texas, and also awarded a Degree of Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine (DNM) from Great Lakes College, Columbus, Ohio. Alex Krych earned a great number of awards throughout his police career. He graduated first academically from the 100th N.J. State Police Academy and eventually reached the rank of Lieutenant. Along the way he received hundreds of both unit and individual commendations, including citations for heroic and outstanding performance, professionalism, diligence, perseverance and dedication to duty. Included in these was a "Letter of Appreciation" for extraordinary job performance as a member of the faculty of "Top Gun" class of '99 from the NJ Attorney General. As Bureau Chief, Alex coordinated, supervised, and managed 70 state troopers and 6 civilian support staff assigned to gather intelligence and investigate within the following units: Organized Crime North Unit, Drug Trafficking North Unit, Street Gang North Unit, Cargo Theft Unit, and the Organized Crime Control North Bureau, Administration personnel. In addition to his career with the NJ State Troopers, Alex was the USA Representative for the World Taiji Boxing Association (WTBA) (1994-present) and attended as well as hosted worldwide trainings for the organization. He earned numerous instructor-level certificates and various degrees of black belt certification in many forms of martial arts. He conducted group and private classes in Tai Chi, Pakua, Wudang, WTBA Faijing Chuan, and Internal Martial Arts. He also was Co-Founder with his wife Carol of Positive Resources 1998 – 2008 which then was incorporated from 2008 to present. Alex served as a faculty member of the Eastern School of Acupuncture and Traditional Medicine, September 2010 to September 2011. He was the Staff Acupuncturist for Englewood Hospital, Center for Integrative Healing, October 2011 to December 2012. His last position was as a Staff Acupuncturist for Hudak Chiropractic and Wellness Center, in Edison, NJ, April 2012 to July 2014. Alex will be deeply missed and is survived by his wife Carol; daughter, Alexis Leimbach (husband Matthew and expected granddaughter); son, Daniel Krych; sister, Virginia Komar (husband Robert); nieces and nephews as well as a generation of students throughout the world.
