Obituary of Matthew West Kuehn
Please share a memory of Matthew to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Matthew West Kuehn, 62, of Belvidere, NJ died on March 13, 2015 at his home. Born on December 7, 1952 in Providence, RI, he was the son of the late Albert DeVere Kuehn, 66, who died in 1983 and the late Mary Emma West Kuehn, 94, who died on February 24, 2015. Due to his father's career, Matthew had lived in various places such as Cumberland, MD, Alberta, Canada, and Wilmington, DE before moving to Belvidere in the 8th grade. A brilliant young man, he attended a summer college program at Western Michigan University while still in Belvidere High School. He attended Bucknell University for engineering and transferred to Lafayette University where he ran the college radio station as a student. He graduated from Rutgers University with a B.A. in Communications. He was a gifted musician and an original member of YOR theatre in Belvidere, which was founded by Paul DeCoste and devoted to the creative expression of the youth of the community. YOR presented Matthew's original play "The Mouse" in their opening season in the early 70's. Matthew struggled with health issues all his adult life and was a devoted brother and son. He continued playing music as a hobby, was a licensed ham radio operator, loved camping and nature, and did his mother's grocery shopping every Sunday after Church. He will forever be in our hearts and missed beyond measure. Matthew was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Belvidere, NJ for over 50 years. Surviving are his lady friend, who has been a loving and wonderful support to him, Tanya Latourette of Phillipsburg, NJ; a sister, Mary Jane Aulicino and her husband Ken of Stillwater, NJ; nieces, Grace and Ava Goodwin; aunts, Lucyanne Brown and Florence Munz; cousins, Kate Brown and Paula Barnett (Dan); numerous second cousins; great nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, contributions are requested to be made in Matthew's memory to St. Mary's Episcopal Church, particularly the Belvidere Area Senior Lunch Center.
