Obituary of Elsie L. Wolfinger

Elsie L. Wolfinger, 96, of Belvidere, NJ, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at St. Luke"s Warren Hospital, Phillipsburg, NJ. Born in Revere, PA on October 8, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Roscoe and Emma Lines Sassaman. Elsie was a graduate of Churchman's Business College. She was a secretary and part owner of the former North Jersey Knitting Mills. She had also been a secretary for the Chicago Combustion Corp., Belvidere, NJ from which she retired. Mrs. Wolfinger was a longtime member of the United Presbyterian Church of Belvidere. She was a former member of the Good Will Fire Company Auxiliary and the Belvidere Senior Citizens Club, having served as treasurer for 18 years. She had been a 60 year member of the Delaware Chapter #50, Order of the Eastern Star. Elsie had also enjoyed the Joliette Card Club, Bethlehem, PA. Elsie was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Raymond A. Wolfinger, who died in 1994. She was also predeceased by three brothers, Earl, Dale, and Frank Sassaman. Surviving are two daughters, Grace L. Richards of Reading, PA and Verna M. Stothoff of Flemington, NJ; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Sassaman; four granddaughters, Cindy Richards Miller, Kathi Richards Bracy, Sandy Stothoff Koehler, and Dawn Stothoff Warner; one great-granddaughter; three great-grandsons; several nieces and nephews.
