Obituary of Joseph R. Staugaard

Joseph R. Staugaard, 79, a life long resident of Oxford, NJ, passed away peacefully on Monday January 2, 2006 at the Warren Haven Nursing Home, Mansfield Township, NJ. Mr. Staugaard was a project engineer for Biney-Smith Company, Easton, PA before retiring. Born on August 24, 1926 in Oxford, NJ, he was the son of the late Jesse and Helen Richards Staugaard. Mr. Staugaard had served in the Navy during WWII. He was of the Methodist Faith. He was an active member of the Boy Scouts of America, a recipient of the Vigil Order of the Arrow and the Silver Beaver Award. He served as a scout master. He assisted both the council and district Mr. Staugaard enjoyed camping with his friends and family. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Mary Kowal Staugaard; a son, Joseph Jr. of Bushkill, PA; a daughter, Cheryl Rufe of Catasauqua, PA; two sisters, Shirley Mulligan of Oxford, NJ and Denise McCormick of Maine; seven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild. Mr. Staugaard was predeceased by a brother, Andrew and a sister, Jean Burd.
