Obituary of Francis Leo McCarthy

Francis Leo McCarthy Sr., 79 of White Township, Belvidere, NJ passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, September 16, 2006. Born on December 7, 1926 in Everett, MA, he was the son of the late Frank L. and Helen Holland McCarthy. Mr. McCarthy had lived in Pompton Plains, NJ for 26 years before moving to Belvidere six years ago. Mr. McCarthy was the principal chemist for L&F Products Company, Montvale, NJ for over 18 years before retiring in 1993. Mr. McCarthy obtained several patents for products, one notable is Mop & Glo. He served in the Navy during WWII. He graduated from Boston University in 1952. Mr. McCarthy was a parishioner of St. Patrick R.C. Church, Belvidere, NJ. Mr. McCarthy was a member and past president of the Holy Name Society, Sacred Heart Church, Quincy, MA and Our Lady of Good Council Church, Pompton Plains, NJ. He was a life member of the Knights of Columbus, council 5943, Pequannock, NJ. Mr. McCarthy was also a member of the American Legion, Carl D. Archer Post 528, White Township, NJ. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Letitia McIntyre McCarthy, who were married on September 13; six children, Francis Jr. of White Township, NJ, Diane L. Robinson and her husband Ron of Titusville, FL, Brenda J. McCarthy also of Titusville, Lorrain C. McCarthy of Sparta, NJ, Letitia M. McCrea and her husband Dave of White Township, NJ, Brian J. McCarthy and his wife Liz deNesnera of Pompton Lakes, NJ; seven grandchildren, Christopher D., Aaron, Grace, Christopher X., Rachel, Jordon and Connor; a sister, Kathryn Keating; a sister-in-law, Beth Brown; several nephews and nieces. In lieu of flowers, contributions are requested to be made in his memory to American Legion, Carl D. Archer Post 528, White Township, NJ.
