Helen A. Tyson, 97, a resident of the Clover Rest Home, Columbia, NJ, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 13, 2007 at the rest home. Born on May 4, 1910 in East Orange, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Floyd L and Katheryn Drake Auble. Mrs. Tyson graduated from Chatham NJ High School in 1927 and then Moon Secretarial School, NYC, NY. In 1985 she retired from the Baseball Hall of Fame, Cooperstown, NY where she had worked as the secretary to the director since 1949. She and her late husband, Willard N. Tyson, who died February 11, 1962, had owned the Tyson Paint and Wallpaper Company in Cooperstown, NY. Before residing at the Clover Rest Home, Mrs. Tyson had lived with her sister, Virginia Auble Tyson in Washington, NJ. She had lived in Cooperstown, NY from 1945 to 2002. Earlier Mrs. Tyson had lived in New York City and Cleveland, OH. She enjoyed baseball, playing bridge and spending time with her family. Mrs. Tyson attended the Christ Episcopal Church, Cooperstown, NY. She was a member of the Women�(TM)s Club, Criterion Club, Dinner Belles and Senior Bridge Club all of Cooperstown, NY. Surviving in addition to her sister Virginia are nieces; Marjorie Thomas Bush and her companion Raymond VanWhy, Virginia Thomas Detweiler and her husband Donnie and their children, Katie, Kirsten, Shane Ross, and Troy; Sara Mark and her husband Andrew, and Gretchen Riddle; nephews, Edward Auble, Peter Cowal and Jack Tyson.
