Mary G. Speck, 85, a lifelong resident of Belvidere, NJ, passed away Sunday, July 06, 2008 at Warren Hospital, Phillipsburg, NJ. Born on February 16, 1923 in Belvidere, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Gertrude E. Moser Hess. Mrs. Speck was of the Christian Faith. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 131, Belvidere, NJ and the Pillipsburg-Easton Area Y.M.C.A.. She had enjoyed coupon clipping, sending 100's of occasional cards to others and helping others in need. Mrs. Speck loved life. She was predeceased by her husband, John Speck who died on February 6, 1975. Surviving are a daughter, Joan A. "Lamzy" Speck with whom she lived; a brother, Carl J. Hess, Sr. of Bangor, PA; a sister, Joyce Riddle and her husband Clifford of Belvidere, NJ; a sister-in-law, Joanna E. Hess of Liberty Corners, NJ; many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Belvidere Ambulance Corps, P.O. Box 128, Belvidere, NJ, Oxford Emergency Squad, 76 Academy Street, Oxford, NJ 07863 or the Good Will Fire Company, 689 Water Street, Belvidere, NJ 07823.
