Obituary of Mary Ann Hopko

Mary Ann Hopko, 67, of the Brookfield Glen Section of White Township, NJ, passed away peacefully at home with her loving family at her side on Wednesday, July 16, 2008. Born on August 29, 1940 in Jersey City, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Lucy Santamassino. Mary Ann grew up in Harrison, NJ and lived in Kearny and Mt. Olive Township, NJ before moving to White Township in 2004. Mary Ann was a postal clerk for the US Postal Services in Clifton, NJ and Budd Lake, NJ before retiring in 2003. She loved to bowl with the Brookfield Glen League, played bocce ball, traveled and lunched with "the girls" and served on the newsletter committee. Mary Ann was an active parishioner of St. Patrick R.C. Church, Belvidere, NJ. Mary Ann was married to John A. Hopko at Holy Cross Church, Harrison, NJ on June 29, 1963. They celebrated their 45th anniversary with the same devotion and tenderness shared throughout their lives. Their love has been an inspiration to all. In addition to her husband, Mary Ann is survived by a daughter, Valerie Turker of Belvidere, NJ; two sons, John Hopko Jr. of Harrison, NJ and Matthew Hopko and his wife Tara of Oxford, NJ; adored as "Meema", four grandchildren, Anthony and Maria Turker, Madelyn and Alexandra Hopko; a dear sister, Florence Albanese and her husband Al of Santa Monica, CA; beloved brothers and sisters-in-law and numerous cherished nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews, who knew and adored her as "Aunt Mare". In addition to her parents, Mary Ann was predeceased by brothers, Rocco, Sonny and Phillip; a sister, Rose; her loving son-in-law, Mark Turker. Mary Ann loved people and loved life. In addition to her family, she will be greatly missed by her many dear and cherished friends.
