Samuel A. Demeo, 71, of Lopatcong Township, NJ, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 10, 2008 at the Care Center of Lopatcong, Lopatcong Township, NJ. Born on November 5, 1936 in Dover, NJ, he was the son of the late Peter and Vincetta Guerra Demeo. Mr. Demeo was employed by the Township of Stanhope for ten years before retiring. Previously he had been a furnace operator for Thermal American Fused Quartz in Montville, NJ for 25 years. Mr. Demeo was of the Catholic Faith. He served as president of the Steel Worker Union in Montville, NJ. He had enjoyed golf and was an avid Notre Dame fan. His wife the former Claire E. Kent had died on December 1, 2000. Surviving are two daughters, LuAnn Lutz of Nazareth, PA, and Deborah McMinn of Lopatcong Twp., NJ; a sister, Antoinette Romaine of Netcong, NJ; five brothers, Frank of Budd Lake, NJ, Lewis, John, and Michael all of Hackettstown, NJ, and Peter of Wharton, NJ; a beloved grandson, Thomas McMinn Jr. of Lincoln Park, NJ. A sister, Rose Mary Nunn had died earlier. In lieu of flowers, contributions are to be made in his memory to the Care Center of Lopatcong, Activities Department, 390 Red School Lane, Phillipsburg, NJ 08863.
