Obituary of Cornelia J. Brandas

Cornelia J. Brandas, 90, of Belvidere, NJ passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, December 3, 2009. Earlier, Mrs. Brandas was employed at Merck & Co. then later for Western Electric in Kearny, NJ working on the radar system for the war effort. Born on October 17, 1919 in Elizabeth, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary Cornell Szorocsin. Cornelia was raised by her step-mother, Elizabeth Szorocsin. Mrs. Brandas was a parishioner of St. Patrick R.C. Church, Belvidere, NJ. She had been a member of the Altar Rosary Society of the Church of the Assumption, Roselle Park, NJ. Surviving are her husband of 70 years, Eugene L. Brandas; a daughter, Patricia Smith and her husband James of Belvidere; two grandchildren, Rachel Conant and James Smith; two great-granddaughters, Emily Marie and Julia Marie; many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Brandas was predeceased by four sisters, Josephine, Margaret, Ernestine, and Anna. In lieu of flowers, contributions are requested to be made in her memory to the Belvidere Ambulance Corps, P.O.
