Robert H. Groel, Sr., 85, of the Country View section of White Township, NJ, formerly of Union, NJ, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 02, 2010 at Warren Hospital, Phillipsburg, NJ. Born on August 19, 1924 in Irvington, NJ, he was the son of the late Otto R. and Caroline A. Miller Groel. Mr. Groel had worked P.S. E. & G., Orange, NJ before retiring. He was a member of the, Atlas Pythagoras Lodge #10 F. & A.M., Westfield, NJ, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, and was a former member the Franklin Century Lodge, Irvington, NJ, where he served as Worshipful Master in 1976. Mr. Groel was an Eagle Scout with Troop # 62, and a member of the Elks Club of Union. Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Eleanor Klingel Groel; four children, Thomas of El Cajon, CA, Richard of Succasunna, NJ, Patricia DeVincentz of Flemington, NJ and Robert Jr. of Middlesex, NJ; a brother, Otto R. Jr. of Bloomfield, NJ; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, contributions are requested to be made in his memory to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
