George Akehurst, 49, of Belvidere, NJ, passed away suddenly on Monday, February 8, 2010 at the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ. Born on September 9, 1960 in Germany, he was the son of the late George E. and Mildred Haddaway Akehurst. George was a laboratory technician for Exxon-Mobile. He was the founder and music director for Stone Soup Symphony Orchestra. He had also taught piano and violin. Surviving are his wife of 25 years, Yvonne Mathez; two daughters, Georgia and Lydia; a brother, Casey of Virginia Beach, VA; two sisters, Paula Garrison and Jolene Rockwell both of Fredericksburg, VA. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister Susan. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Belvidere Ambulance Corps, P.O. Box 128, Belvidere, NJ 07823.
