Leo B. Smith, 82, of Harmony Township, NJ, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at the Lehigh Valley Hospice Center, Allentown, PA with his loving family at his side. Born on January 19, 1929 in Franklin Township, NJ, he was the son of the late Rufus D. and Mary Walker Smith. Leo was the owner of the Leo B. Smith Insurance Agency, Harmony Township, NJ for many years before retiring. Mr. Smith was a 1947 graduate of Belvidere High School. He served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Smith was a life member of the Harmony Township Volunteer Fire Company. He also was a former member of the NJ Independent Insurance Agent Association. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Gloria Willever Smith; two sons, Michael A. of Bethlehem, PA, and Alan L. and his wife Brenda of Endwell, NY; four grandchildren, Megan, Kelly, Trever and Cassie Smith; a brother, Richard R. Smith of Harmony Twp., NJ; several nephews and nieces. Mr. Smith was predeceased by a sister, Kathleen Thunell and three brothers, Henry, Thomas and John. In lieu of flowers, contributions are requested to be made in Leo's memory to the Harmony Township Volunteer Fire Company, 440 Brainards Road, Phillipsburg, NJ 08865.
