Obituary of Isaac H. Stettler

Isaac H. “Bob” Stettler, 84, of Belvidere, NJ, passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2011 at the Warren Haven Nursing Home, Mansfield Township, NJ. Born in Bridgeville section of White Township, NJ on February 28, 1927, he was the son of the late Harold and Cora Dee Stettler. Isaac, best known as “Bob”, was a longtime resident of Belvidere, first growing up on the Yohe farm in Foulrift where he worked until entering the Army during WWII. A proud Veteran and 82nd Airborne Paratrooper, he served as an Honor Guard for President Eisenhower while stationed in Frankfurt, Germany. Bob was active in Boy Scouts, Little League Baseball and local Government as a Belvidere Councilman. He certified the town police force in shooting and self defense and was directly responsible for erecting the community pool house. Bob was a master bricklayer placing 3rdNationally as an apprentice in 1953. He built his first house and the age of 19 and continued to leave his mark building many fireplaces and chimneys in the surrounding communities. Bob loved the outdoors, especially hunting with his sons. He loved camping and his many winter trips to Maine and Canada. Bob was a life member of V.F.W. Post 5793, Belvidere, American Legion Post 131, Belvidere and the International Bricklayers Union. Surviving are his wife, Mary of Belvidere; three sons, Daniel and his wife Laurie of Bangor, PA, Randy and his wife Lydia of Mt. Bethel, PA, and Grant and his wife Linda of Belvidere; three grandchildren, Sam Stettler of Owings Mills, MD, Taryn Stettler of Allentown, PA, and Nathan Stettler of Bangor, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions are requested to be made in his memory to the Good Will Fire Company, 689 Water Street, Belvidere, NJ or the Belvidere Ambulance Corps, P.O.
