Charles S. Miller, 93 of Belvidere, NJ passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at St. Luke's Warren Campus.
Born on January 26, 1923 in Mauch Chunk, PA, he was the son of the late Samuel William Miller and Mae Dorothy Wilke Miller.
Charlie was a Results Analyst for P.P. & L. for many years before retiring in 1983. He had worked in Hazelton and Hauto before being transferred to Martin's Creek Steam Generating Plant when it opened in the mid 1950's. He was also a Financial Planner since 1959.
He was proud to serve in the U.S. Army with the 63rd Infantry Division in the European Theatre during WWII receiving a Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
Prior to being disassembled during the 1930's, Charlie had had the opportunity to ride the Switchback Gravity Railroad twice.
Charlie was a graduate of Mauch Chunk High School Class of 1941. He was a 72 year member of the Mauch Chunk American Legion.
He was a parishioner of St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Belvidere since 1954.
Charlie had enjoyed tennis and was an avid golfer. Charlie was a member of the Belvidere Golf Association, Harkers Hollow Golf Club, Mountain Manor Golf Club, and most recently, Riverview Golf Club.
He was a volunteer for the American Red Cross, Belvidere as well as the American Cancer Society, Warren Division where he had served as Treasurer.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Rosemary Strohl.
Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Irene M. Sirsky Miller; two daughters, Christina Allen and her husband Robert of Lititz, PA and Cynthia Karabinus and her husband Thomas of Belvidere, NJ; two granddaughters, Jennifer Leppo and Julie Ann Karabinus; one great-grandson, Cullen Leppo; six step-grandchildren, including, Christopher Karabinus, Thomas Karabinus and Amy Pryslak; nine step-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be held 11:00 AM Monday, August 8, 2016 at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 408 Third Street, Belvidere, NJ. Interment of Cremains will follow in the Belvidere Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of MacFadden Funeral Home, Belvidere, NJ.
