Obituary of Ralph C Smith

Ralph C. "Smitty" Smith, 83, of Knowlton Township, NJ, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Easton, PA on June 18, 1933 he was the son of the late Earl and Mary Silverthorn Smith. Ralph was a truck driver for many years before opening Smitty's Liquor Store and Deli on Route 46 in Delaware, NJ. He also had a storage shed business at this location and was part owner of Flannery's Tavern for a few years. Smitty was a member of the Knowlton Lions Club for over 40 years. He enjoyed being with friends, riding horses, skiing, snowmobiling, driving his antique cars and riding motorcycles. In addition to his parents, Ralph was predeceased by a brother, Earl "Bud" Smith; a sister, Alice Gibbs; a granddaughter, Lisa Stenger. Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Mary J. Demers Smith; children, Susan Mendock, Ralph "Tab" Smith and his wife Nancy, Sandy Dickison and her husband Norman, Dawn O'Neil; seven grandchildren, Maria Kitchen, Ty Mendock, Joshua Smith, Clayton Smith, Tabetha Fletcher, Megan Dickison, Michael O'Neil; eight great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at MacFadden Funeral Home, 325 Hardwick Street, Belvidere, NJ. Interment will follow in the Ramseyburg Cemetery, Knowlton Township, NJ.
