Oliver "Bud" Smith, 81 of Lopatcong Township, NJ, passed away peacefully after a short illness on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at the Old Orchard Health Care Center, Easton, PA. Born in Hazen, NJ on February 11, 1935, he was the son of the late Silas H. Smith and Viola Thatcher. Bud was a 1953 graduate of Belvidere High School. He was the manager of the former Ford Furniture Store in Belvidere, NJ before working as a sales representative for Dean Appliances in Washington, NJ. Bud then worked as a custodian for the Belvidere Schools before retiring. Bud was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, Easton, PA. He enjoyed playing softball with the church league. He was a Life Member of the Good Will Fire Company and a former member of the Rotary Club of Belvidere. Bud was an avid Giants fan, rooting for both the NY Giants and the San Francisco Giants. In addition to his parents, Bud was predeceased by a granddaughter, Rachel Kuhns. Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Barbara J. Smith; two daughters, Sandra Kuhns and her husband Rodney, and Debra Barbera and her husband David; grandchildren, Linsey VanBilliard and her husband Mark, Brittany, Brandy and Spencer Barbera; great-grandchildren, Sarah, Joshua and Audrey; two brothers, Thomas and Theodore Smith. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, November 10, 2016 at MacFadden Funeral Home, 325 Hardwick Street, Belvidere, NJ with a Fireman's Prayer beginning at 10:45 AM. Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, November 9, 2016 and 10:00 to 11:00 AM Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Harmony Township, NJ.
