Obituary of Dorothy M. DeLong

Dorothy DeLong (Gray), 87, of Belvidere, NJ passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2017 at the United Methodist Community at Bristol Glen, Newton, NJ. She was born August 26, 1930 to Alexander and Mildred (Haight) Gray in Bronx, NY. Dorothy married the love of her life, George DeLong, on April 28, 1951. George predeceased her in 1995.

Throughout her life, "Dot" was an active church member, served as family photographer, was an expert Christmas cookie baker, loved sewing, crafts, and gardening, and was an avid music lover. Dot loved children. She was a teacher at various nursery schools, Sunday schools, and vacation bible schools. She attended over twenty years of her grandchildren's school concerts and recitals.

Dot is survived by her sister, Margery (Gray) Harnick and her husband Sheldon of New York, NY; her daughter, Lorraine (DeLong) and her husband Glenn of Frelinghuysen Township, NJ; her son, Kerry DeLong and his wife Ruth of Long Valley, NJ; five grandchildren, Kelly and her husband Ryan, Robert and his fiancée Zoë, Rick and his wife Jaridae, Kristina and her husband John, Patrick and his girlfriend DJ; two great-grandchildren, Bailey and Malachai; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Burial will be 10:30 AM, Friday, December 15, 2017 at the Belvidere Cemetery, Belvidere, NJ. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow at the Emmanuel Bible Church of Schooley's Mountain, NJ.
