Obituary of Merrill K. Mills

Merrill Kirk Mills, 89, passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2019, at the Care Center of Lopatcong, Lopatcong Township, NJ.

Born January 21, 1930 in Newark, NJ, he was the son of the late Alfred Cortlandt Mills and Ruth Carey Kirk. Residing in Irvington, Union, Mendham and most recently Lopatcong, NJ, he was married to the late Betty Jean Simmenroth for more than 48 years.

After graduating from Irvington High School, he attended Stevens Institute of Technology. He was a tool and die maker for many years in his own shop. He also served in the United States Naval Reserve. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and in the spring and fall you could often find him on the beach or in the woods.

Surviving are his daughters, Ellen and Karen, their husbands, Malcolm and Don; grandchildren, Kirk and his wife Heather, Jonathan and his wife Alyson, Corrie and her husband Greg, Matt, Jessica; great-grandchildren, Leah, Brayden, Tyler, Jensen, Ada, Eliot, Parker and Peyton.

A Celebration of Life will be held 10:30 AM, Saturday, April 13, 2019 at the Calvary Community Church, 4 Old Church Road, Harmony Township, NJ. Interment will immediately follow in the Calvary Cemetery.
