Obituary of Harold Abbott

Harold "Red" Abbott, 82, of Belvidere, NJ, passed away on Friday, November 1, 2019. Born April 2, 1937, he was the son of the late Harry and Evelyn (Dickey) Abbott. He was the loving husband to Laurene Abbott. Together they celebrated 63 years of marriage. Harold excelled in high school sports and as a lifelong County Seater, he always enjoyed attending Belvidere High School football games and wrestling matches. He also enjoyed golfing, softball and spending as much time as possible with family and friends. Harold worked for the I.U.O.E. Local 825 and proudly served as a Belvidere police officer for over two decades. Surviving along with his loving wife, Laurene, are his sisters, Lois, Catherine and Alice; brothers, Jim and Donald; children, Lois VanScoten and husband Ronald, Harold Abbott Jr. and wife Deborah, Vicki Gonzalez and husband Richard, and Melissa Abbott; grandchildren, Ronnie VanScoten and wife Heather, Grant VanScoten and wife Carol, Mary Clairmont and husband James, Melanie Mamrak, Andrew Mamrak, Nicholas Mamrak, Heather Garatty and husband Mike, Chadd Groff and wife Jenise, Kelsey DiVittorio and husband Zeb; great-grandchildren, Autumn, Matthew, Leo, Jessie, Ezra, Christian, Jenna, Grant Jr., Madison and James; great-great-grandson, Clayton. Red was predeceased by his brothers, Eddie and John; sisters, Emma and Elsie; sons, Nicky and Richie. Friends may call from 6:00pm-8:00pm on Friday, November 8, 2019 at the MacFadden Funeral Home, 325 Hardwick Street, Belvidere, NJ. Graveside service will be held 11:00am, Saturday, November 9, 2019 at St. Patrick Cemetery, Belvidere, NJ.
