Obituary of Donald J. Hoy

On November 14, 2019, surrounded by loving family, Donald "Mickey" J. Hoy, husband to the late Patricia Hoy, passed peacefully in the home of his granddaughter and her husband, Danielle and Mark Schaeffer.

Donald was the son of the late James Hoy and Marie Cahoon. He was also predeceased by a son Michael and a brother, James Jr.

Surviving are his children, Ann Marie Falco and her husband David, James Hoy and his wife Vera, Gayle Golden, Sandra Merola, and Patricia Yeakel; daughter-in-law, Christine Hoy; ten grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren that knew him as "Pop Pop"; two sisters, Kathleen Gies and Louise Hoy 

He honorably served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WW2. Intense Irish pride coupled with the pride he held being in service of his country later motivated him to start the first Norte Dame fan club in Easton, PA, to which he never missed a game. Donald honored his fellow soldiers and country by making a point to place flowers at the veterans' memorial of St. Philip and St. James cemetery every holiday, always remembering those that served.

Calling hours will be held Thursday, November 21, 2019 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at MacFadden Funeral Home, 325 Hardwick Street, Belvidere, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick R.C. Church, 327 Greenwich Street, Belvidere, NJ. Entombment will be in St. Philip and St. James Cemetery, Phillipsburg, NJ.
