Obituary of Raymond W. Cooper

Raymond W. Cooper, 79, of Harmony Township, NJ, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 17, 2021 at St. Luke’s Hospice House, Bethlehem, PA.

Born in Cranford Township, NJ on February 23, 1941, he was the son of the late Charles O. Cooper and Dorothy Mooney.

Ray was a lineman for New Jersey Bell Telephone Company, Broadway, NJ for many years before retiring.

He was proud to have served on the US Coast Guard Cutter Spencer, one of the most highly decorated cutters.

Ray was a parishioner of St. Patrick R.C. Church, Belvidere, NJ where he was also a member of its Holy Name Society, church choir, and a CCD teacher.  Raymond also was the former manager of St. Patrick Cemetery.

As a contributor to the Malvern Retreat House, Malvern, PA, the largest and oldest retreat center in the country, Ray attended many retreats over the years. He was also a Serra Club member.

Ray will always be remembered as someone that would drop what he was doing to assist others with anything they may have needed help with.

In addition to his parents, Raymond was predeceased by his wife of 45 years, Judith A. Tarenc Cooper, who died on April 30, 2013 and a brother, Ronald Cooper.

Surviving are his three children, Karen Stanek and her husband Tommy, Debra Hammond, and Matthew Cooper and his wife Caren; three grandchildren, Kate Stanek, Makenzie and Julia Cooper; a brother, Bertram Cooper; a sister, Jeanne Perelli.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM, Thursday, January 21, 2021 at St. Patrick R.C. Church, 327 Greenwich Street, Belvidere, NJ. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery. Friends may call from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at MacFadden Funeral Home, 325 Hardwick Street, Belvidere, NJ.
