John A. Tuin, 87, of Lopatcong Township, NJ, formerly of Harmony Township, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 11, 2021 at his home.

Born on October 13, 1933 in Heemskerk, The Netherlands, he was the son of the late Gerard and Marie (Benning) Tuin.

John was a machinist for Ingersoll Rand before retiring from the Warren County Bridge Department.

He had been a longtime parishioner of St. Patrick R.C. Church, Belvidere, NJ.

In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by a brother, Bernard.

Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Alida M. Knaap Tuin; a daughter, Joanne (Jeffrey); a son, Marc (Kimberly); three brothers, Gerard, Hank, and Louis; three sisters, Alida, Elizabeth, and Anne all of Canada; a proud grandpa (Opa) to David, Alexandra, Michael and Lauren; two step-grandchildren, Andrew and Daniel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM Saturday, April 17, 2021 at St. Patrick R.C. Church, 327 Greenwich Street, Belvidere, NJ. Burial will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, Belvidere, NJ.

The family wishes to acknowledge and thank everyone at Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice, who assisted in the care of John. A special thank you goes to Dona and Chaplain JoAnne. We will be forever grateful for their wonderful care and kindness.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in John’s memory to Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice or Alzheimer’s of New Jersey.
