Obituary of George John Castello

George John Castello, 87 of Belvidere, NJ, formerly of Bridgewater, NJ and New York City, NY, passed away on November 10, 2021. George was the son of Italian immigrants, Francesco Castello and Lucia DiFalco. He was born April 20, 1934 on the lower east side, in New York City. He grew up during the Great Depression, and World War II, and graduated from Manhattan College in 1956 with a BA in Accounting.  George’s career spanned 6 decades, during which time he worked at Western Electric, Midland-Ross and Philips Van Heusen.

George was married to Maryann Pittarelli on August 6, 1960.  He is survived by his wife, Maryann, as well as 4 children and their spouses: Daniel & Bonnie Castello of Camas, WA, Denise & Robert Lustig of Bridgewater NJ, Gregory and Elizabeth Castello of Chatham, NJ, and Peter & Jennifer Castello of Duxbury, MA.

He also leaves behind 10 wonderful grandchildren, Dana (Castello) Macey, Sean Banks, Nicholas Castello, Ryan Banks, Liza Castello, Matthew Castello, Corryn Castello, Steven Castello, William Castello, Christopher Castello, and 2 great-grandchildren Mackenzie Moran and Benjamin Macey.

In addition to his family that he leaves behind, George has left a mark on virtually every person that he has known. He was known to all, as someone that loved life, and loved to have fun. George had a great sense of humor.   He was warm and sentimental.   He so loved and appreciated his family and friends.   He will be dearly missed.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 12 noon, Monday, November 15, 2021 at St. Patrick R.C. Church, 327 Greenwich Street, Belvidere, NJ. Friends may call from 10:00 to 11:30 AM at MacFadden Funeral Home, Belvidere, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in George's memory to the American Cancer Society.
