Obituary of Lillian L. Higginbotham

Please share a memory of Lillian to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Lillian “Lil” Higginbotham was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She passed away peacefully on January 13, 2022.

Born to the late Albert and Mary Kinney on May 31, 1940, she was the oldest of five children. After graduating from Palisades High School, she went on to work for various companies, including Southland Corporation (7-11) and the Mount Holly Water Company.

Lil enjoyed painting, reading, dancing, and growing plants.  She loved the holidays and family gatherings. She loved celebrations which is why she made sure that every member of the family received a birthday card. It was known throughout the family that it wasn’t truly your birthday until you received your card from Aunt Lil.

Her biggest wish in life was to someday open a Bed & Breakfast. Unfortunately, she never had the chance to fulfil that dream.

Lillian is survived by her two children, Brian Higginbotham and Barbara Matott; her sisters Patricia Voorhees and Sue Freeman; her brothers Jeff Kinney and John Kinney (Jo); as well as many nieces, nephews and many friends. She was predeceased by her granddaughter, Jaclyn Matott.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 am on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at MacFadden Funeral Home, 325 Hardwick Street, Belvidere NJ.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to: To Write Love on Her Arms, in memory of her granddaughter, Jaclyn. TWLOHA is a non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury, and suicide.
