Obituary of Genevieve M. Hyder

Genevieve M. Hyder, 100, of Belvidere, NJ, formerly of Detroit, MI and Madison, NJ, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 12, 2023 at the Chelsea at Brookfield, White Township, Belvidere, NJ with her loving family at her side.

Born on February 28, 1922 in Detroit, MI, she was the daughter of the late Frank Skotzke and Martha Elands. Genevieve had lived in Detroit before moving to Madison, NJ in 1962 and then moving to Belvidere, NJ in 1994.

Genevieve was a former parishioner of St. Vincent the Martyr Church, Madison, NJ and a member of its Rosary Society. She was a parishioner of St. Patrick Church, Belvidere, NJ.

She loved to cook, bake and travel. She especially enjoyed her cruises with her late husband, Michael to Italy and Alaska.

In addition to her parents, Genevieve was predeceased by her husband, Michael Hyder, who died in 2006 and a daughter, Dianne.

Surviving are two sons, John Hyder and his wife Barbara, and Michael Hyder and his wife Sandra; a daughter, Mary Prisco and her husband Anthony; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-granddaughter.

A Christian Wake Service will be held 12 Noon, Thursday, February 16, 2023 at MacFadden Funeral Home, Belvidere, NJ. Interment will follow in St. Vincent’s Cemetery, Madison, NJ. Friends may call from 11:00 AM to 12 Noon.
