Obituary of Mary M. O'Hara-Iacampo

Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Marie OHara Iacampo, age 80 of Belvidere passed away surrounded by family on December 10, 2023. She is pre deceased by her first husband Bernie, her mother Mae, her father Martin, and her brothers Marty and Jack and sister in law Barbara. She is survived by her husband Vince Iacampo, and her sons Bernie, Kevin, John, Steven and Keith and their loving spouses and children, and sisters in law Arline Connolly and Pat Small (John).

Marie was born in the Bronx, New York on May 12, 1943. Marie married Bernard O’Hara in 1964 and had 5 sons. In 1981 her husband Bernie passed away and Marie raised their five boys.

Marie was a devout Catholic and very active in the church. She was a Eucharistic Minister as well as a volunteer at Our Lady of the Mountain Church’s widowed early support group.

As a mother, Marie was always prioritizing her sons above herself.  Marie led by example teaching her sons to be respectful, kind, strong, responsible and compassionate. Marie had a great way of letting you know that you always had her love and support.

Marie’s grandchildren were paramount in her life. On the O’Hara side Marie had nine grandchildren.  She knew everyone’s favorite meals, candies and goodies. Every day was better when you got to spend it with Grandma.

Marie had a very close group of friends named “ the coffee group” that would meet often at each other’s homes starting in the 1980’s through to this year.  Marie attended her last coffee group earlier this year.

Later in her career, while working at the Hackettstown Construction Office, Marie met Vincent Iacampo and they married in 2006. Vince has eight grandchildren of his own. Marie was very proud of her new extended family and enjoyed time and life events with all seventeen grandchildren.

Marie enjoyed her days with Vince in the Brookfield Community in Belvidere gardening, baking her famous Irish Soda Bread, and hosting so many family parties in their home. Their home was very welcoming and always beautifully decorated for each holiday.

We will carry her memory in our hearts.
