On April 2, 2015, Jane Bernice Breen (nee Dixon) passed away in her home in Belvidere, NJ. She was 95 years old. Born August 9, 1919, in Belleville, NJ, Jane graduated from Belleville High School in 1936 and attended St. Barnabas School of Nursing in Newark, NJ. Before marrying William Breen, a World War II veteran, in 1945, Jane was charge nurse in the labor and delivery ward of St. Barnabas Hospital. William and Jane Breen were married for 44 years before his passing in 1989. They raised their four children in Nutley, NJ. Jane was an active parishioner of Vincent United Methodist Church, Nutley, NJ, before moving to Toms River, NJ, where she was an active member of The Presbyterian Church of Toms River. She moved to Belvidere in 2012 to be close to family and faithfullly attended Belvidere United Methodist Church. Jane is survived by three of her four children and their respective spouses: Hans and Katherine Mertens, Arnold and Nancy Hulteen, and David and Susan Breen, her 11 grandchildren, and her eight great-grandchildren. Her son Raymond Breen passed in 1991. Jane will be remembered for her strong Christian faith, her devotion to Girls Scouts, and her charitable support for Native American causes.
