Obituary of John J. McDonald

John J. McDonald, M.D., 86 of Mountain Lake, Liberty Township, NJ passed away suddenly on Thursday November 17, 2005 at his home. Born on May 2, 1919 in Hazelton, PA, he was the son of the late John J. and Lillian Johnson McDonald. Doctor McDonald had a family practice in Belvidere, NJ from 1949 to the time he retired in 1973. He began his private practice in 1946 at the former Betts Hospital, Easton, PA. Dr. McDonald had served in both the Navy and the Army during WWII and the Korean conflict as a physician. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania and his medical degree from Hahnemann Medical College and Hospital, both in Philadelphia, PA. He was a member of the American Medical Association, American Legion Post 131 and Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 5193, both of Belvidere, NJ. He was an honorary life member of the Good Will Fire Company, Belvidere, NJ. He was predeceased by his wife, Genevieve E. who had died on July 22, 1979. Surviving are three sons, Jerry and his wife Jean of Drums, PA, Joel and his wife Peggy of Toledo, OH, and Kim Kimbo and his wife Ann-Marie of Palmerton, PA; two granddaughters, Jennifer McDonald and Tracy Corbin; a sister-in-law, Virginia Robinson of Worthington, OH; several nephews and nieces.
