Obituary of John Peter Delgado

John Peter “Pete” Delgado, 67 of Tobyhanna, PA formerly of White Township, NJ, passed away suddenly at his home on Thursday July 6, 2006. Mr. Delgado had been the Tax Assessor for the City of Passaic, NJ before retiring in February 2002. He was the former Assessor for East Brunswick and East Windsor, NJ. Born on November 24, 1938 in Freeport, NY, he was the son of the late Clarence N. and Inger Marie Delgado. Pete was raised in Oradell, NJ and had lived in White Township for over 26 years before moving to Tobyhanna a year ago. Mr. Delgado had graduated from Dwight Morrow High School in Englewood, NJ; he attended the University of Delaware, Fairleigh Dickinson University and Rutgers University. From 1957 to 1965 Pete served in the United States Coast Guard. Mr. Delgado had an extensive background in real estate in both government and private practice as a consultant, appraiser and broker. He has appraised properties for the Federal, State, County and local government in addition to New York Banks and Trust Companies, Corporations and private owners. Some of his significant appraisals include the casinos in Lake Tahoe, NV, RCA Color T.V. Manufacturing Plant, Memphis, TN, Brandywind Race Track, Wilmington, DE, and the Two Guy�(TM)s Shopping Centers in NJ, PA, Mass. and CT. Mr. Delgado was the president of Eastern Revaluation Inc., Washington, NJ, an associate of Michael R. Schmidt & Associates, also Washington, Senior Associate of R. Jacobs & Associates, Clifton, NJ and as senior appraiser with Schlesinger Company. Mr. Delgado was a Certified Tax Assessor for the State of New Jersey, a member of the American Association of Certified Appraisers, Real Estate Board of Warren County, past vice president of the Association of Municipal Assessors of NJ, White Township Zoning Board of Adjustment, and served as the chairman of the Environmental Commission, White Township, NJ. Pete�(TM)s true passion was antique tractors and tractor pulling, and was a member of the New Penn-Jersey Tractor Pullers Association. Surviving are his wife of 27 years, Lorraine Malecki Delgado; four children, Scott Allen and his wife Danelle, Belvidere, NJ, Richard Allen, Phillipsburg, NJ, David Allen, NY, NY and Barbara Allen, Easton, PA; a brother, Norman Delgado, Glendora, CA; two grandchildren, Jared and Jordan ; two nephews and a niece. A son, George Delgado and a daughter, Jennifer Delgado had died earlier.
