Obituary of Earl C. Smith

Earl C. “Bud” Smith, 81, of White Township, NJ, passed away suddenly on Wednesday January 24, 2007 at Warren Hospital, Phillipsburg, NJ. Born on July 8, 1925 in Easton, PA, he was the son of the late Earl C. and Mary Silverthorn Smith. Bud had been a dairy farmer. In 1965 he had built and operated the Bel-Pike Lanes, Rt. 519, White Township, NJ. He had also been a former owner and operator of the Dairy Queen. Mr. Smith was an avid bowler and on May 2007 he will be inducted into the Morris County Bowlers Hall of Fame. Bud had also enjoyed his many hours of woodworking. Surviving are his wife, the former Elizabeth Hildebrant; four sons, Earl, Charles, Dennis and Thomas; a brother, Ralph “Smitty”; a sister, Alice Gibbs; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, The Earl C. Smith Blood Drive, sponsored by the Miller Memorial Blood Bank, will be held at the Bel-Pike Lanes on Sunday February 18, 2007 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
